National Tobacco Monopoly

Hungarian parliament (Fidesz party's politicians) voted to make tobacco a state monopoly. Newly established National Tobacco Shops could sell only tobacco products. The lucky recipients of these concessions who successfully bid are mostly pro- Fidesz Hungarians. The numbers of licensed vendors reduced aprox to 5500 compared to 45.000 retailers before. The concessions were granted for the next 20 years.
